"150 minutes" enables wall bars to be purchased
July 13, 2022 | 150 minutes 2021 | What became of the donations
During last year's campaign week, the wall bars were a symbol for small but effective breaks in everyday care. Now this symbol is about to become a reality, even if the structural conditions have made implementation somewhat more difficult. In many places, the condition of the walls did not allow for wall mounting, in other places the corridor was simply too narrow. However, a wall bar will soon find a new home in the anteroom of the operating theater in the visceral and transplant surgery department. A pull-up bar and a set of sling trainers complete the range of exercise options. Soon, nurses will be able to "stretch" to their heart's content after a long operation.
"150 minutes" supports Nursing Day
May 12, 2022 | 150 minutes 2021 | What became of the donations
57 years ago, the International Council of Nurses (ICN) launched International Nursing Day, which has been celebrated annually on May 12 ever since. The Förderstiftung supported the event with a lecture program and subsequent get-together for a detailed exchange (which is often neglected in everyday life) with around 5,000 euros from the "150 minutes" fundraising campaign.

"150 minutes" finances two innovative mattresses
June 21, 2022 | 150 minutes 2021 | What became of the donations
One of the central goals of the "150 Minutes - Active for Nursing" fundraising campaign was to purchase technical aids that relieve the physical strain on nursing staff but are unfortunately not (yet) included in the standard funding. Neurosurgery is one of the areas of the MHH where these efforts are now bearing concrete fruit: two beds on ward 26 are being equipped with sophisticated mattress systems worth a total of 14,000 euros, which allow patient mobilization to be carried out in a way that is particularly gentle on the back.Christiane Heise and Nadine Heuser, who currently manage the ward together, are full of anticipation: "Many of the people we look after here have symptoms of paralysis and are very sensitive to pain," explains Heise. "These patients particularly benefit from the gentle shifting of pressure points, which a carer could never do in this way." There are individual modules under the mattress that create a kind of wave movement and perform the mobilization so slowly that many patients are not even disturbed in their sleep. "And it's a huge relief for the nursing staff, because in many cases mobilization is simply very exhausting. The fact that patients and nursing staff benefit equally here," adds Heuser, "naturally makes us particularly happy". And us too!
Freundeskreis Garbsen donates 2,500 euros for Nursing
The Friends of Garbsen, founded in 1996, has set itself the goal of promoting science, education and social issues through civic engagement. Prof. Dr. Roland Scharf, first chairman, and his deputy Robert Andreas Hesse were immediately enthusiastic about the idea of supporting Nursing at the MHH. They both agree that applause alone is not enough to thank the nursing staff in German hospitals for their work during the coronavirus pandemic. "The Garbsen Circle of Friends also wants to send a clear signal about the importance and appreciation of nurses," explains Scharf. Because the Freundeskreis is mainly organized on a voluntary basis and participation in the campaign week as an employer was therefore not an option, the non-profit organization is supporting the motto "150 minutes - active for Nursing" with a donation of 2,500 euros. Thank you very much, we are delighted!
The VHV Group is on board!
The coronavirus pandemic has impressively demonstrated the achievements of our nursing staff and the indispensable contribution they make to our society. As a Hanover-based company, the VHV Group is deeply rooted in this city. And that is why it is particularly important for the VHV Group and its employees to "actively" support the work of the MHH nursing teams here in Hanover."
NBank employee donates to the campaign
Sometimes it's not just the big corporate donations that are worth reporting. At NBank, an employee who is unable to actively participate in the campaign week is making headlines. But instead of simply not signing up, he chose a different route: He is supporting the campaign in aid of Nursing with a donation. "I think it's good that a signal is being sent here that goes beyond just applause on the balconies," says Andreas Goergens. "I would prefer a healthcare system in which Nursing staff are paid significantly better. But that is probably - if at all - a dream of the future. That's why I want to make a modest contribution in the here and now." We are delighted that our fundraising campaign has received such diverse support and would like to thank you very much, Mr. Goergens!
The Institute of Sports Medicine is included!
In the beginning, we planned a sponsored run for the benefit of Nursing. Together with Professor Uwe Tegtbur, we ran through various ideas and eventually a whole week of action was born. "It's always important to me to get as many people as possible moving - even or especially those who don't go jogging regularly," explains Tegtbur. "Everyone can take part in the action week and I really like that, of course." For him, it is a matter of honor to get his own department involved for a good cause. We are delighted that Sports Medicine is taking part!
Golfclub Hannover e.V. organizes charity tournament
The annual charity tournament of the Hanover Golf Club in Garbsen has a long tradition. This year, the event is dedicated to Nursing at the MHH and we are particularly pleased about this! All entry fees for the 4-person fun scramble, which welcomes young and old, beginners and professionals alike, will go to the MHH plus charitable foundation. The tournament will take place on October 16, 2021, from 10.00 a.m. and thus seamlessly follows on from our campaign week "150 minutes - Active for Nursing". Registrations are still possible until Friday, 15.10.2021. The participation fee is 25 euros for adults and 10 euros for children. All important information can be found here as a PDF download.
DOK SYSTEME is on board!
The owner-managed family business DOK SYSTEME from Garbsen has been dedicated to planning sustainable IT and communication solutions since 1984. It supports companies from all sectors and public clients throughout Germany. "We have a lot to do," says Dr. Jan Steuer, Managing Director and son of company founder Dieter Steuer. "But we always have time for a good cause. And if it's for the health of our employees, we're twice as happy to do it." That makes us very happy - welcome on board!
Just get off the train one stop earlier
The days are getting shorter, fall is on its way outside. There are only a few days left until the start of our campaign week and many participants are already making the first preparations for a more active everyday life. There is also a lot of discussion in our team: Avoid the elevator and take the stairs instead, say some. Or not parking the car right outside the office or getting off the train one stop earlier, say others. The latter group includes our colleague Katrin Fuchs, who now walks the last part of her journey to work as often as possible. She now walks through the Eilenriede in the mornings and afternoons, clocking up 40 active minutes a day and also filling up on a good dose of oxygen.
How are you preparing for the campaign week?
The NBank is on board!
Lower Saxony's investment and development bank, NBank, has also already had sporting experience with the MHH plus development foundation: in 2019, NBank joined over 130 other companies from the region in the Firmen-Krökel-Cup Hannover for the benefit of MHH cancer medicine. Now the development bank is picking up the thread again and is once again taking part in the campaign week. "We could all do with a bit of exercise and balance," says Dr. Ulf Meier, member of the Management Board. "Our teams do a lot to promote Lower Saxony in the best possible way. As an employer, it is therefore important to us to provide opportunities to promote the health of our colleagues." You've come to the right place during the campaign week!
Hans G. Bock is on board!
For over 50 years, Hans G. Bock has stood for high-quality interior design in Hanover. "We have also had to deal with problems such as delivery difficulties or bottlenecks in trade services, but unlike many others, we have come through the pandemic unscathed so far," says Valentin Schmidt, Managing Partner at Hans G. Bock. "Our special thanks therefore go to all those who have done incredible things during the crisis. We are delighted to be able to express our appreciation for carers by taking part in the campaign week." And we are happy too!
hanova is included!
For over 90 years, the municipal housing association has stood for ecologically and socially sustainable urban development. "It is part of our philosophy to think and live social responsibility holistically. This applies not only to our housing projects, but also to our company itself," emphasizes hanova Managing Director Karsten Klaus. "For example, we have been increasingly using bicycles instead of company cars since 2013. And who would have thought at the time that we had created the best conditions for our participation in the Nursing Action Week at the MHH?" We think so: That's real foresight. Welcome to "150 minutes"!
Tina Voß GmbH is on board!
"We're sporty anyway," says Tina Voß, Managing Director of the personnel service provider of the same name. "And as Chairwoman of the MHHplus Board of Trustees, I am of course particularly happy to support campaigns like this." We can only confirm this, as the Tina Voß GmbH team was one of the particularly enthusiastic participants in the 2019 Firmen-Krökel-Cup, which was organized for the benefit of the MHH plus Foundation, and even trained on the company's own foosball table in advance. This time, the employees are not limited to playing table football, but can make use of the entire range of sporting and everyday activities. We are looking forward to seeing what they make of it and are delighted that they are taking part!
PSD Bank Hannover is on board!
The bank with the green logo has become an integral part of the MHH. It has been a loyal supporter of the MHH Children's Hospital for many years and is also involved in important projects in research, teaching and patient care. "When we heard about the campaign, it was immediately clear to us that we would take part," says Torsten Krieger, Member of the Executive Board of PSD Bank Hannover. "Strengthening employee health AND doing good - that's an ideal combination!" We think so too. Thank you very much for taking part!
Dirk Rossmann GmbH donates 5,000 euros
The Burgwedel-based drugstore chain has supported the MHH plus Foundation for many years and was the main sponsor of the 2019 Firmen-Krökel Cup, the proceeds of which benefited oncology at the MHH. Company founder Dirk Roßmann has been a member of the Board of Trustees since the MHH plus Foundation was established, so it was a matter of honor for him to support the campaign week for Nursing. We are delighted with this generous contribution - thank you very much!
Heinz von Heiden GmbH is on board!
"When it gets sporty, we're happy to join in. And if we can also support Nursing at Hannover Medical School, it's a really good thing all round," says Laura Reimer, who is responsible for marketing and sports sponsorship at the solid construction house provider from Isernhagen. Most recently, she mobilized the employees for the Isernhagen city bike ride. Now she will be beating the drum for the "150 minutes - active for Nursing" campaign week. We are looking forward to it and are excited!
