Important information - please read carefully

The capacities of the sleep laboratories in the Hanover area are limited. We are bound by numerous regulations. We therefore ask for your understanding that we can only offer appointments in the sleep laboratory under certain conditions:

If snoring or pauses in breathing during sleep (sleep apnea) are involved, further diagnostics using outpatient polygraphy is advisable first. This is a screening device that records the body's breathing and oxygen supply during sleep in the home environment. Such examinations are carried out by registered sleep physicians. These include many lung specialists (pulmonologists) and ENT physicians as well as some physicians from other specialties. For patients with statutory health insurance, a polygraphy carried out in advance is a prerequisite for an appointment in the sleep laboratory.

If you have other issues such as insomnia or special neurological disorders such as narcolepsy, please bear in mind that our sleep laboratory focuses on pneumology and cannot be used for long-term outpatient treatment. Nevertheless, we also carry out examinations in this regard. However, you can only come to us on a physician's request if you have a specific question. As a rule, you should therefore first consult a registered specialist (e.g. neurologist).

Checklist for the (outpatient clinic) appointment

  • For patients with statutory health insurance: Outpatient polygraphy by your ENT or lung specialist
  • A current referral from the pulmonologist/pneumologist or family physician/internist at the time of the appointment
  • Your health card (health insurance card)
  • Written summary of the preliminary examinations
  • If available: Your (federal) medication plan
  • If necessary: a transportation ticket for the outward and return journey

We generally carry out outpatient and inpatient polysomnographies. To enable us to plan better, please complete the following form: Please only complete the form if the above requirements are met.
