Very few people like going to hospital. A, but sometimes an inpatient stay is necessary in order to enable optimal diagnostics and therapy or the quickest possible recovery. In any case, we will do our best to make your stay as pleasant as possible.
Please contact us if you have any concerns or problems, even - and especially - if you are dissatisfied for whatever reason. We will try to accommodate your wishes and needs as far as possible. However, we also ask for your understanding that the MHH is an acute hospital in which, despite limited resources, seriously ill patients are cared for around the clock, so that waiting times may occur and planned examinations and procedures may occasionally have to be postponed.

Ward 13B introduces itself
The internal medicine IMC ward 13b has 12 beds and is assigned to the Clinical Departments of Gastroenterology, Nephrology and Pneumology and Infectious Diseases of the Center for Internal Medicine.
The task of ward 13b is to monitor and treat seriously ill internal medicine patients from the entire field of internal medicine. In addition to the possibility of continuous and invasive monitoring of vital parameters, various organ support and replacement procedures (including intermittent hemodialysis) are available on the ward.
High-quality, interdisciplinary medical and nursing care on the ward is guaranteed around the clock in cooperation with the internal intensive care unit. There is also close cooperation and active collaboration with colleagues from other specialist disciplines at MHH, such as interventional radiology and colleagues from HTTG and visceral surgery.
In addition to the treatment of common severe internal diseases (sepsis, pancreatitis, pneumonia, etc.), the care of patients with acute and acute-on-chronic liver failure is a particular focus of the ward. As a supra-regional Transplant Centre, all modern therapeutic procedures (including TIPS implantation, therapeutic plasmapheresis) up to and including liver transplantation are available here in addition to guideline-based conservative therapy. We also take part in a large number of national and international studies on acute-on-chronic liver failure. The treatment of endocrinological emergencies (including Addisonian crisis, thyrotoxicosis and ketoacidosis) is also a core aspect of our work.
A further focus of the ward is the interdisciplinary care of critically ill patients with nephrological/rheumatological and pneumological/infectiological multisystem diseases. These include, in particular, thrombotic microangiopathy, systemic lupus erythematosus, vasculitis with multi-organ involvement and the clarification of unclear serious infectious diseases, especially in immunosuppressed and organ transplant patients.
All this is only possible thanks to the great commitment of a highly motivated and closely cooperating team of nurses, therapists and physicians together with state-of-the-art technical equipment. We are therefore always happy to welcome interested nursing graduates and motivated medical students who would like to spend their Practical Year (PJ) or clinical traineeships on our ward.
