As the body’s main artery, the aorta carries oxygen-rich blood from the heart to all organs and tissues. Diseases affecting this vital vessel require highly specialized diagnosis and treatment. The Clinical Department of Cardiac, Thoracic, Transplantation and Vascular Surgery (HTTG) at Hannover Medical School (MHH) invites patients, their families, and interested members of the public to the 11th Patient Day on “Thoracic Aortic Surgery.”
Led by Clinic Director Prof. Dr. Arjang Ruhparwar and Dr. Morsi Arar, Head of the Aortic Surgery Division, the event offers a comprehensive and accessible overview of the spectrum of thoracic aortic surgery.

Starting at 12:00 p.m., light refreshments will be served, providing an opportunity to discuss individual questions directly with the experts from the aortic team.
Specialized presentations and interactive program
Attendees can look forward to a series of short presentations on modern treatment approaches, surgical techniques through the ages, minimally invasive endovascular methods, and genetic aspects as part of the Marfan consultation. Marfan syndrome is a rare hereditary connective tissue disorder. In addition, there will be a practical supporting program: The interdisciplinary team will demonstrate vascular prostheses and the use of a heart-lung machine. Representatives from the “Aortis” self-help group and Marfan-Hilfe will also be available for consultations and personal discussions.
