Whether it's dentures, fillings, or root canal treatment, patients can receive treatment from dental students at the Dental, Oral, and Maxillofacial Clinic of Hannover Medical School (MHH) and support them on their way to becoming dentists. The teaching and examination plan for the clinical semesters includes various treatment methods such as simple fillings, professional teeth cleaning, and partial crowns, as well as fixed or removable dentures and even full dentures.
After years of practicing on models and simulators, prospective dentists must successfully complete two comprehensive state examinations before they can demonstrate their skills in clinical patient care under supervision from the seventh semester onwards. Therefore, they are looking for both younger and older patients for their treatment courses and final exams who are willing to be advised, cared for, and treated by them. Although patients have to allow a little more time than they would at a dental practice, there is also a small expense allowance for many treatments such as full dentures or ceramic restorations.
All steps are always subject to quality controls
Of course, all diagnostic and therapeutic steps are always subject to quality controls. Competent dentists from the MHH's specialist clinics accompany every step of the treatment. The students take the time for their patients in order to achieve the best possible results. “We have highly motivated students, individualized care, and can offer a wide range of treatments based on the latest scientific findings,” says Professor Harald Tschernitschek, Dean of Dentistry at MHH, summarizing the advantages of treatment by students.
Anyone interested is welcome to visit the admissions and counseling service at the MHH Dental Clinic and introduce themselves at the Clinic for Conservative Dentistry between 8 a.m. and 11 a.m. or at the Clinic for Prosthodontics between 8 a.m. and 11 a.m. or 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. All you need to do is register with your insurance card at the reception desk of the Dental Clinic.
Patient information is also available on the student internet portal: www.studental.de.
