NUM LokS Retreat at the Charité on October 7-8, 2023
The first presence retreat of the Local Administrative Units (LokS) of the University Medicine Network (NUM) took place on November 7 and 8. Employees from all 36 participating university hospitals met in the lecture hall ruins on the Charité campus to discuss the findings to date and the future of the network with the NUM coordination office and the project management organization of the German Aerospace Center (DLR/PT). For many of the 70 participants, this was the first opportunity to exchange ideas with other LokSs in the network, as the network has continued to develop and change since it was founded in 2020.
The conclusion on the work of the LokS was generally positive, even if there is potential for improvement. For example, the working methods of the various LokS are very heterogeneous, which makes it difficult to standardize processes. Furthermore, many LokS would like to see better Communications with the coordination office and the project managers.
An important topic was the future of the University Medicine Network, whose funding will end in mid-2025. However, a decision on the continuation of the NUM will be made at federal ministry level. The coordination office and LokS want to play an active role in shaping this process and jointly develop the foundations for NUM 3.0.
