#180grade
Prevention and treatment of dysregulated sexuality
According to a survey conducted by the Federal Criminal Police Office in 2020, one in 10 suspects in cases of sexualized violence is under the age of 18.
In order to prevent sexual assaults by young people, it is therefore important to provide services before they occur. With this goal in mind, the #180grad prevention project will be launched in September 2022 in the MHH's Clinical Psychology and Sexual Medicine department. The aim is to help young people who suffer from sexual impulses and seek help because they fear they will no longer be able to control them. In addition to the excessive consumption of (child) pornography, this also includes sexual fantasies of violence and sexual assault. Under the motto 'crime prevention is the best victim protection', the project offers anonymous and free therapeutic help under confidentiality and aims to prevent sexual assaults in the future and in the long term. Because prevention means preventing acts before they happen.
The treatment of excessive sexual behaviour and sexualized violent fantasies and impulses requires an awareness of the problem and the willingness to seek therapeutic help. The therapy programme does not include people who are currently under investigation for sexual offences, who have not served their sentence in full and/or whose sentence includes conditions or probation. The project is aimed at young people between the ages of 14 and 21.
