The study quality resources at the MHH

Study quality funds (SQM) are compensation payments from the state for the tuition fees that were abolished in the 2014/2015 winter semester. They are subject to special earmarking. They are granted to ensure and improve the quality of teaching and study conditions. The number of enrolled students determines the amount of the SQM.

At the MHH, the funds are divided into central funds (40%) and decentralized funds (60%).

  • The decentralized funds are allocated to the individual study programmes; the respective Study Commission is responsible.
  • The central funds are used for cross-course measures.

Allocation of funds (decentralized funds)

The application procedure has two stages:

1. applications for the specific use of funds are discussed in detail at the meetings of the respective Study Commissions and are given as a recommendation to the Study Quality Commission. Student representatives, teaching staff or departments of the MHH are entitled to submit applications to the Study Commissions. The commissions always consist of half student representatives.

2. the proposals of the Study Commissions are submitted to the Study Quality Commission for a decision. This ultimately decides on the allocation of funds. The commission is chaired by Prof. Christian Mühlfeld. The Deans of Studies and the Study Commissions for Medicine, Dentistry and the Bologna study programmes are entitled to submit proposals to the Study Quality Commission for the respective quota budget.
