The first organ transplants were carried out in Germany in the 1960s. A 13-year-old girl at Hannover Medical School (MHH) was the first child to receive a kidney 50 years ago.

To mark this anniversary, the MHH Transplant Centre launched the participatory campaign "Give courage: Tell your story!". Child and adolescent transplant patients and their relatives were invited to tell their story - as texts, painted pictures, photos, videos, audio recordings, poems or comics.

The contributions are intended to encourage children and young people who are waiting for a donor organ. You can find the submitted stories here.
