The pelvis and hip department covers both surgical and conservative treatment of acute and chronic hip pain. Our specialties include the treatment of degenerative diseases (hip joint degeneration/arthrosis), congenital deformities (hip dysplasia), late effects of injuries (femoral neck fractures, fractures of the acetabulum) and problems associated with joint replacements (loosening, infections). Prof. von Lewinski's team also has many years of extensive experience in the treatment of complex acetabular fractures and traumatic femoral head fractures.
Surgical treatment includes osteosynthesis of complex pelvic fractures, primary implantation of modern total hip endoprostheses as well as complex replacement operations with complex reconstructions of bony defects. In addition to these joint replacement procedures, we also offer minimally invasive joint-preserving operations for the reconstruction of labral lesions and the treatment of bony deformities of the femoral head and neck.
Conservative therapy ranges from drug-based pain therapy, local injections of local anesthetics and corticosteroids to the provision of orthopaedic aids.
An overview of the main areas of treatment:
- Pelvic surgery
- Osteosynthesis of the acetabulum (hip socket)
- Primary hip joint replacement
- Replacement operations
