Teaching general medicine in the HannibaL model degree program
interdisciplinary, case-oriented, practical
In the HannibaL model degree program, the Institute ofGeneral Medicine and Palliative Medicine is represented from the first to the sixth year of study with various modules and electives.
- General medicine module in the 3rd year of study - gain an insight into the way GPs think and work in lectures, courses and excursions. At the heart of this is case-oriented learning (FOL) in small groups based on frequent, practical consultations.
- Block placement in general practice In the 5th year of study - work for two weeks in the team of one of our 300 GP teaching practices. The work includes, among other things, interviewing and examining patients independently, getting to know various clinical pictures, accompanying home and nursing home visits. Special offers for students who opt for rural regions: complete the block internship in one of the three rural areas or receive a subsidy for travel and accommodation costs in selected other regions.
- PJ elective in general medicine - Finally really practical, increasingly independent work in a team and individual supervision. We are happy to arrange a suitable teaching practice.
In addition to teaching general medicine, the Institute ofGeneral Medicine and Palliative Medicine is also responsible for teaching the cross-sectional area of palliative medicine and co-teaching responsibility for the cross-sectional area of geriatrics and for the propaedeutic course (week 1). In addition, our staff are involved in further weeks of propaedeutics in the first year of study and in the Diagnostic Methods module in the second year of study.
The elective courses Long-Term Patient Care in General Practice, FIT in Studies and Career: Resilience Training and Stress Management for Students, Medical Identity and Professionalization: Being a Doctor and Student Polyclinic Hannover (StuPoliH) round off our curricular offerings.
Current information for the respective academic year (e.g. on organization, teaching materials) can be found on the electronic teaching and learning platform ILIAS.
