"OnkoHelfer" to support comprehensive care
In the context of oncological care, patients and their relatives not only have to deal with medical aspects, but also with psychosocial and socio-legal aspects. With a view to providing individual and comprehensive care for those affected and their relatives, the "OnkoHelfer" project, which ran from February to August 2023, aimed to provide interested laypeople without basic medical training with information to provide the best possible support for people with cancer and their relatives during this time and to enable them to pass on this information. Participants were able to receive training in six modules, including Communications and Conflict Management, Pastoral Care and Self-Help, Patients' Rights and Social Law Options, Diseases and Therapies, and Oncological Nursing and Rehabilitation.
