Online training therapy for cancer patients
New technology-based approach to therapy provision: Institute of Sports Medicine at the MHH is investigating online-supported training for cancer patients in a collaborative project.
Status: 04.03.2021
Physical training can reduce disease- and therapy-related complaints in cancer patients. Nevertheless, there are no systematic training structures in tumor therapy to date. The CRBP-TS project, which is being conducted as a multi-center care study by the University of Leipzig, Dresden and the Hannover Medical School, picks up on this: Online training therapy is intended to contribute to improving patients' physical and mental performance, continuous lifestyle modification and disease-oriented learning.
The home-based training and care program (CRBP-TS) is aimed at patients with colorectal, breast and prostate cancer. Patients' physical activity is recorded for six months using fitness trackers and the data is reported directly to the treating staff and to the study participants. During the program, the study participants have access to their training data, receive regular disease and therapy-related information and are in close contact with the respective study institution. The digital connection is intended to increase patients' motivation and cooperation with therapy and enable the rapid detection of incipient deteriorations.
Recruitment will run until June 2021. Further information on the study, as well as inclusion and exclusion criteria, can be found at www.tumortherapie-online.de.
