SICKO
Training for more safety in pediatric oncology
Practical, interdisciplinary and interactive
Working in pediatric oncology presents all members of the interdisciplinary therapeutic team with (new) challenges every day. A wide variety of complaints, different examinations, detailed treatment plans and highly effective medication dominate everyday life. The SICKO(Safetyin Pediatric Oncology) training concept for nursing staff and physicians was developed to equip staff for their work in the field of pediatric oncology. We train in an interprofessional setting with new employees and experienced colleagues. The team is prepared for the specific requirements in workshops and can thus optimally deepen their knowledge.
Workshops
-
SICKO classic is a two-day workshop that teaches the basics of pediatric oncology, complication management and teamwork. In addition to communication techniques and changing perspectives, practical skills are tried out and discussed on dummies. These include handling implanted catheters, performing lumbar punctures and bone marrow aspirations, simulating emergency scenarios and delivering bad news (Breaking Bad News).
-
SICKO mobil offers a two-day workshop in external Clinical Departments with pediatric oncology beds. The contents of the workshop are the same as those offered in the SICKO classic workshop.
-
SICKO junior is aimed at human medicine students and Nursing trainees. In a one-day workshop, the necessary activities are practiced together before the first day of work. Initial experience can be gained and exchanged in a protected environment.
