The OnkoAkademie of the CCC-N® at the Hanover site supports the goal of the Comprehensive Cancer Center Lower Saxony to provide comprehensive patient care at the highest medical level and according to the latest oncological knowledge. To this end, it pursues an innovative, holistic educational concept for Lower Saxony in the field of oncology. The following topics are important to us: Support in network formation, development of didactic concepts for imparting skills at different levels for all target groups, patient integration and lifelong learning. Our OnkoAkademie courses are aimed at patients, the interested public, medical staff, scientific staff and students.
The CCC Hannover offers patients and their relatives various events and educational programs. These include the "Info Series Cancer" (a series of events with four dates a year) and the "OnkoHelfer" program, an offer for interested laypeople without basic medical training. The CCC also organizes regular meetings with self-help groups ("the round table of self-help groups"). We also provide information on specific diseases on various health and campaign days.
It is important to us not only to raise awareness of oncological diseases and their prevention among the general public, but also to actively involve patients in the various processes and structures of research and care, and to empower them in joint decision-making. Formats in which people affected by cancer can participate can be found at www.mhh.de/ccc/patient-empowerment.
