In our research group we investigate the function of certain protein kinases, which are activated by MAP kinases and are called MAPKAP kinases (MKs). MK2 and MK3 are activated by p38 MAP and are essential for the post-transcriptional regulation of inflammatory cytokine biosynthesis. MK5 is activated by ERK3/4 and may play an interesting role in the regulation of septins.
