Welcome to PD Dr. Renate Scheibe

In our research group, we investigate questions of skeletal muscle and its fiber types, especially during fiber type transformation in connection with another endurance muscle, the heart muscle. During fiber type transformation, a large number of cell parameters change under controlled and regulated conditions. Important signal transduction pathways in the regulation of energy metabolism and contractile properties occur, for example, via the nuclear hormone receptor superfamily, via the mitogen-activated protein kinases (MAPKs) p38 and MAPKAP2/3, as well as via post-transcriptional/translational modifications (acetylation/SUMOylation) of transcription factors.
