The six most important indications of a primary immunodeficiency in adults
- Four or more infections in one year that were treated with antibiotics (e.g. bronchitis, otitis, sinusitis, pneumonia)
- Recurrent infections or infections requiring very prolonged antibiotic therapy.
- Two or more serious bacterial infections (e.g. osteomyelitis, meningitis, sepsis or inflammation of the subcutaneous tissue)
- Two or more cases of pneumonia confirmed by X-ray within three years
- Infections with unusual localization or unusual pathogens
- Known immunodeficiency in the family
