The palliative medicine consultation is offered in the outpatient clinic of the Institute ofGeneral Medicine and Palliative Medicine. The consultation is led by Prof. Dr. Dr. Schneider and his team and is aimed at patients with a chronic, incurable illness and their relatives. It can be useful to visit the consultation at any time during the course of an incurable oncological disease. The service includes advice, planning and support for your concerns.
The outpatient consultation team works closely with your family physician, the specialist departments of Hannover Medical School and other treating physicians and services (e.g. palliative and hospice services, palliative care unit, pain outpatient clinic, Nursing).
The palliative care unit and the palliative medical consultation service (PMK) belong to the Clinical Department of Haematology, Haemostaseology, Oncology, Oncology and Stem Cell Transplantation. The palliative medical consultation service is aimed at all patients receiving inpatient care at the Medical School and their relatives, regardless of whether they have an oncological or non-oncological disease. Consultative care can be requested by the attending physicians of the normal and intensive care wards and all specialist departments in the hospital. The palliative care ward is an independent ward for specialized palliative care with seven single rooms and special staffing and facilities that enable close multi-professional and more individual care for patients and their relatives.
