Pediatric oncology ward 64

Around 100 children diagnosed with cancer are admitted here every year. The specialized team treats all childhood cancers. The largest group are patients with leukemias and lymphomas, but patients with bone and soft tissue tumors, brain tumors and rare tumors are also treated here according to the latest clinical knowledge.

We are specialists in the treatment of children with cancer

Most patients are treated within the framework of so-called "therapy optimization studies" of our specialist association for paediatric oncology and haematology. Good interdisciplinary cooperation is a guarantee of high clinical standards for us today. We work closely with specialists from the Clinical Departments of Trauma Surgery, Neurosurgery and Pediatrics, as well as with radiotherapists, transfusion specialists, microbiologists, pathologists and molecular biologists.

Our psychosocial team, physiotherapists, art therapists and fitness trainers also play a major role in the care of our patients.

Our patients are cared for by a competent clinical team consisting of nursing staff, assistants, specialists and senior physicians, who are available to answer questions during daily ward rounds. Three times a week there is a senior physician's ward round, on Tuesdays Professor Kratz takes time for all patients as part of the chief ward round. A specialist physician is also always available at night and on weekends and public holidays.

Joint meetings are held several times a week, at which all employees come together. Here, diagnostic and therapeutic procedures for patients with complex problems are discussed together.
