Gerontopsychiatry

Ward 87

Ward 87 treats mentally ill patients from the age of 50 with various clinical pictures such as depression, delusional disorders, psychoses and dementia. There is close cooperation with the geriatric psychiatry outpatient clinic, our Clinical Department's day clinic and complementary care facilities in the Hannover region.

In addition to regular ward rounds, individual therapeutic consultations and additional consultations with specialist therapists, there is an individually tailored group therapy program, which is supplemented by cross-ward group activities.

Admission to ward 87 can take place

  • via the MHH Central Emergency Room
  • via the psychiatric occupancy management of the MHH (☎ 0511 532 5408)

A multi-professional team (medical and psychological services, nursing, social work, occupational therapy, physiotherapy) works on the ward using a multimodal therapy approach. Psychotherapeutic, medicinal, sociotherapeutic, occupational therapy and physiotherapy elements complement each other. Specialized age-specific diagnostics, for example in the area of depression or dementia, are carried out. As a university-affiliated Facilities or Institutions, we are able to use the latest diagnostic procedures.

Diagnostics, group and individual therapy, activating nursing care and disease-specific support are carried out individually in consultation with the patient.

Treatment is carried out with the aim of psychological stabilization, with the focus on coping with everyday life as independently as possible with early planning of further inpatient care. Individual or group sessions are available for counseling relatives.
