The Psychiatric Department of Hannover Medical School has four clinical areas with a total of eight wards.

The areas are divided into general psychiatry, affective areas, geriatric psychiatry and addiction medicine.

Our aim is to provide holistic treatment in multi-professional teams at a high psychotherapeutic level according to the latest scientific findings.

General psychiatry treats people with all mental illnesses who do not primarily suffer from an addiction.

Affective disorders

Patients with depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety disorders and underlying physical illnesses are treated in the "Affective Disorders" department.

Geriatric psychiatry is aimed at older people with mental illnesses.

Addiction medicine

In addiction medicine, people with physical and psychological addictions such as drug, alcohol or media addiction seek help.

Occupancy Management coordinates all admissions to the Clinical Department and advises colleagues in private practice, relatives and patients.

We are available for...

  • Patients with a confirmed specialist diagnosis
  • physicians and psychologists in private practice who want to refer patients
  • relatives who see a need for inpatient treatment for their loved ones.
