Training to become a medical assistant at the MHH

The profession of medical assistant (MFA) is very varied.
Training and retraining to become an MFA at the MFA training center at Hannover Medical School (MHH) as a supramaximal care Clinical Department begins every year on August 1 and usually lasts three years; a reduction of one year is possible and will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. Training at the MHH is particularly exciting and varied due to the interdisciplinary training and the rotation procedure. You will be trained in multiple medical specialties and thus gain insights into various outpatient clinics and work in multi-professional teams.

You will be instructed in the processes of the outpatient clinics so that you can support them and take on administrative work. You will coordinate examination appointments and look after patients before, during and after treatments. You will also assist physicians during treatments and medical procedures. You will learn how to operate and Nursing medical instruments and equipment and carry out laboratory work. You will also assist with outpatient procedures, apply dressings, take blood samples and carry out laboratory work. Checking vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse and body temperature and carrying out blood sugar measurements are also part of your varied tasks. You will also document treatment procedures in the patient files and bill for services rendered.
