In four visceral surgery operating theaters, around 3000 operations are performed and anesthesiologically supervised each year. The spectrum ranges from elective routine procedures to highly complex operations on patients who are often critically ill. Minimally invasive procedures, some of which are robot-assisted, and open surgical procedures for major stomach, intestinal and liver operations are used. The Clinical Department of Visceral Surgery is also one of the leading transplant centers in Europe and transplants kidneys, pancreases and livers in adults and children.

State-of-the-art anesthesia and monitoring techniques offer maximum patient safety and comfort. Each anaesthetic is individually tailored to the patient's needs, including a concept for optimal post-operative pain therapy.
