Anesthesia in gynecology
Every year, we provide anesthesiological care for around 3500 gynecological procedures. The spectrum ranges from short outpatient procedures to large, extensive operations, e.g. for cancer patients. We use all modern anesthesia methods, including regional anesthesia ("partial anesthesia").
Optimal pain therapy in the first few days after the operation is also important to us. To ensure maximum patient comfort during this phase, we work closely with our acute pain service.
An anesthesia team is available around the clock for the delivery room. We offer expectant mothers various methods of pain relief during childbirth, usually the insertion of a peridural catheter ("pain catheter").
If a caesarean section is necessary, we provide a safe and comfortable anaesthetic. In the vast majority of cases, spinal or epidural anesthesia ("partial anesthesia") is used. This gives the young mother the opportunity to consciously experience the first moments of her child's life.
A particular focus of our work is our involvement in the interdisciplinary care of pregnant women with special pre-existing conditions, such as congenital or acquired heart defects.
