Childcare at the MHH
The Family Service offers all employees and students of the MHH flexible childcare for childcare gaps that can be planned in the long term (please register at least 8 days in advance), for example for events with a professional or study-related background, e.g. for exam preparation, for a written exam, for further training, participation in congresses, workshops or conferences.
Please let us know your childcare requirements at least eight days in advance and we will arrange for your children aged between zero and twelve to be looked after by experienced educational staff on our premises.

For very short-term, unplannable childcare needs in emergencies, for example if the childminder falls ill or the kindergarten or school is canceled at short notice, in order to keep your back free for your studies or work in these cases, the MHH offers in cooperation with the pme Familienservice GmbHoffers free emergency childcare in building K27 (House A) on the first floor. All you need to do is call the pme Family Service to register your child for the day in question. If the telephone booking is made by 6 p.m. the day before, childcare is guaranteed.
Emergency childcare is available for children between 8 weeks and 12 years of age between 05:45 and 19:00 every day. Please note: Emergency childcare is not available if you need childcare on a scheduled basis, e.g. for exam preparation, further training, etc. In these cases, please use the flexible childcare (see above). Information for parents
Fluxx offers emergency childcare for children aged 0 to 13 at short notice if regular childcare is unavailable and all private childcare options have been exhausted. The care takes place in the family's home, e.g. if the child is slightly ill, or can also take place in the emergency childcare rooms of the MHH Equal Opportunities Office.
MHH is a partner company of Fluxx, a childcare service offered by the state capital and the Hanover region. For MHH employees, one hour of childcare costs 3 euros. Students are eligible for an hourly rate of 2 euros via the Studentenwerk Hannover as a partner company of Fluxx.

Childcare during the vacations
During the school vacations on February 3 and 4, 2025, the Family Service offers MHH employees and students childcare for children aged 6 to 11 years in K27 from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.. The registration deadline is Friday, 24.01.2025.

During the two weeks of the Easter holidays from April 7 to April 17, 2025, employees and students of the MHH can use the care services offered by the AWO Region Hannoverwill be available as usual. Childcare will be provided all day from 8.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. at various AWO locations. The offer can be booked immediately and on a weekly basis. Age group: 6 to 11 years; prices: Students 55/95 EUR, employees 85/155 EUR for 1 week / 2 weeks; registration deadline is March 21, 2025.

The Kids-Fit vacation campwill also take place again during the Easter vacations in both vacation weeks from April 7 to 17, 2025 from 8:00 to 16:00 (early/late service 07:00 to 17:00) at SportCAMPUS/LUH. The offer can be booked on a weekly basis. Prices: Students 90/75 EUR per week (5/4 days), employees 120/100 EUR per week (5/4 days). Age group: 6 to 16 years.
Registrations for the "Kids-Fit-Feriencamp" in the Easter vacations 2025 have been possible since February 10, 2025 directly at the Center for University Sports Hanover possible.
The childcare services during the Easter vacations are subsidized by the MHH for employees and students of the university, so that you benefit from a reduced participation fee. After taking advantage of the vacation childcare, these subsidies are added to your income as a non-cash benefit and are then subject to your personal income tax rate. The subsidies are only paid for children who have not yet reached the age of twelve. It is therefore possible that an additional payment will be due via your pay slip after the calculation by HR Management.
During the first five full weeks of the summer vacation from July 7 to August 8, 2025, MHH employees and students will be able to use the care services offered by the AWO Region Hannoverwill be available as usual. Childcare will take place all day from 8.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. at various AWO locations. The offer can be booked immediately and on a weekly basis. Age group: 6 to 11 years and 5-year-olds who will start school after the summer vacation; prices: Students 55/95/137.50 EUR, employees 85/155/227.50 EUR for 1 week / 2 weeks / 3 weeks; registration deadline is June 20, 2025.

Childcare in Hanover
Since August 1, 2013 , children from the age of one until they start school have a legal right to attend a daycare facility. If you are unable to find a childcare place for your child, you can assert this legal entitlement at the Family Service Office.

A subsidy towards childcare costs is possible under certain conditions. For this purpose, an informal application must first be submitted to the Department of Economic Youth Welfare for an examination of the reasonableness of the parental contribution. The applicant will then be informed which documents are required for the assessment and must be submitted.
