The Lower Saxony Ministry of Science and Culture grants scholarships for students. These are one-off payments of 500 euros each. The scholarships are to be awarded primarily to particularly talented students from the so-called educationally disadvantaged classes (neither parent has a qualification higher than a lower secondary school leaving certificate), in particular for first-generation students (those who are the first in a family to start studying) and for students who have particularly difficult starting and general conditions for studying due to flight. In addition, social reasons, e.g. a strained financial situation of families with many children, as well as outstanding voluntary commitment within and outside the university can also be taken into account.

You should also state the extent to which you are active in your voluntary work or job, for example, or how old your children are.
In addition: What else should the selection committee know about you? How often do you volunteer? How old are your children? How often do you help out in the family in the event of a special situation? In exceptional cases, the standard period of study may be exceeded. This must be justified in the application. What would you like to emphasize in your application? Why are you particularly suitable for a Deutschlandstipendium?
Who decides on the award?
The university's selection committee.
Are school and academic achievements decisive for the award?
They are an important point of reference for assessing performance and talent. However, other criteria are also taken into account in the selection process, such as involvement in an association, politics or the church, bringing up own children, Nursing of relatives or overcoming particular biographical obstacles. The selection process should take into account the applicant's overall personality.
