Research, teaching and patient care on one campus
At Hannover Medical School (MHH), the areas of patient care, research and teaching are integrated on one campus. The Clinical Department of Cardiac, Thoracic, Transplantation and Vascular Surgery (HTTG) has 5 operating theaters, 82 normal ward beds, 21 intensive care unit beds and 12 IMC beds.
Excellence through broad spectrum, innovative treatment and high case numbers
Over 1,900 operations with heart-lung machines, 500 vascular operations, 400 thoracic operations and around 200 pediatric heart operations are performed each year. Thanks to our scientific activities and many years of clinical experience, we are able to offer the complete spectrum of both established and innovative procedures in the fields of cardiac, thoracic and vascular surgery. With over 100 lung transplants per year, the Clinical Department for HTTG Surgery is one of the world's largest lung transplant centers.
Best conditions for research
The MHH has special research areas and clinical research groups, through which leading scientific positions in many areas can be further expanded. The Clinical Department of Cardiothoracic, Transplantation and Vascular Surgery also has its own laboratory for experimental research (LEBAO). There is an animal operating theater with excellent infrastructure on the MHH campus for large animal experiments.
