Qualification objective
The module provides solid knowledge of basic molecular mechanisms of gene regulation and signal transmission and their significance. In addition, students master basic molecular working techniques and are familiar with their practical application.
The theoretical content is taught and critically discussed in the lecture. During the internship, students work together in groups of two, simulating various experiments in the laboratory with a time delay while carrying them out simultaneously (lecturer/student ratio: 1:5).

Competencies
Students know and understand essential molecular biological and genetic methods that are available for analyzing these processes. They are familiar with the principles of targeted mutagenesis and transgenesis as well as the construction of the necessary constructs, and know important methods for analyzing the function of genes and their regulation at the cellular level in vitro and at the organismic level in vivo.
After completing the internship, students will have knowledge and practical experience in dealing with basic molecular biology techniques: exemplary detection of RNA, DNA and proteins, cloning.
