General learning objectives

  • CT examination: indication check, planning, information, patient discussion, safety aspects, radiation protection, implementation, acceptance, patient preparation, basic knowledge of diagnostic findings

  • Focus on conventional diagnostics and fluoroscopy

  • Recognizing significant findings in emergency patients

  • Fitness for duty

Special learning objectives

  • Basic knowledge of abdominal and oncological radiology: anatomy and pathology of the abdominal organs/gastrointestinal tract/genitourinary system)

  • CT (and MRI): examination techniques, quality assurance, systematic examination of contraindications, complications associated with contrast media and their treatment, examination planning, examination technique, examination acceptance, post-processing, data analysis, systematic image analysis, reporting, reporting/demonstration of findings to referring physicians

Practical activity

  • Learning CT operation and practical implementation of at least 5 CT examinations with support from the MTR 3 days, in consultation with MTRA and team management

  • Indication check, quality assurance (examination acceptance), planning, monitoring

  • Diagnostics: conventional X-ray images (abdominal overview images), computer tomography; spectrum: neck, abdomen, pelvis, vessels, emergency examinations.

  • Independent performance of examinations under fluoroscopy; spectrum: DL examinations of the gastrointestinal tract, fistulographies, differentiated swallowing passages.

 

In-depth rotation Duration 3-12 months

Specific learning objectives

  • Consolidation of methodological knowledge of the basic rotation: conventional X-ray, sonography, DL, abdomino-pelvic CT, photon counting CT, MRI

  • Differential diagnosis of abdominal and oncological pathologies.

  • In-depth study of special pathological correlations.

  • Oncological issues and follow-up assessments

  • Complex issues, syndromes, malformations, infectiology, systemic diseases and vascular diseases

  • Knowledge of the indications and informative value of abdominal MRI and the benefits of the specially used contrast agents, coil selection, sequence parameters and sequence order

Practical activity

  • Checking indications, quality assurance, planning, monitoring and reporting: MRI and CT
  • Independent performance of examinations under fluoroscopy; spectrum: DL examinations of the gastrointestinal tract, fistulographies, differentiated swallowing passages
  • Learning various CT-supported interventional procedures (biopsy, drainage, ablation), knowledge of MRI-supported interventions
