Our "organ teams", which cover all departments of the MHH, are led by senior physicians who are competent contact persons due to their specialization. In the first few years, basic skills are taught on a rotational basis, with a focus on the bolded workplaces and modalities. In the 4th and especially the 5th year there is the opportunity to set specializations. In addition to clinical work, research leave is planned into the curriculum.

Further training after obtaining the specialist qualification in radiology
The training regulations of the Medical Association of Lower Saxony regulate further training in the field of radiology and provide for the specializations of neuroradiology and paediatric radiology.
In addition to the specialty designations, the Institute offers opportunities for structured further training in one or two subject areas after obtaining specialist certification in radiology. This takes place in the above-mentioned organ teams. This subspecialization, known as fellowship in the Anglo-American language area, can be accompanied by certifications offered by the German Radiological Society. An important means of achieving this is quality assurance, firstly through the continuous training of certified physicians and secondly through the certification of centers, with the aim of offering a structured training program that ensures good patient care.
The Institute of Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology at the MHH is a certified training and hospitation center of the German Society for Interventional Radiology and Minimally Invasive Therapy (DeGIR), DeGIR Center for Interventional Vascular Medicine and Minimally Invasive Therapy and DRG Focus Center for Cardiovascular Imaging. We regularly conduct our own training courses certified by the Academy for Continuing Education and Training of the German Radiological Society.
