Office hours and telephone numbers of the diagnostics department of the Institute of Medical Microbiology and Hospital Hygiene

The sample acceptance times of our diagnostics are

• Monday - Friday 7.30 a.m. - 4 p.m.
• Saturday and pre-holidays 7.30 a.m. - 12.00 p.m.
• Sunday and public holidays 9.30 am - 12.00 pm
  

During the regular sample collection times

• the laboratory workstations are manned and can also be reached for telephone information
• the central information desk for bacteriology/mycology/parasitology can be reached at:
  in the MHH 17-8050, from outside 01761 / 532 8050
  Information desk for serology: (0511/532) 4358
• we accept all test materials
• are available to you as clinical microbiology consultants:
  Your ward supervisor
  or the physician at the relevant laboratory
  

Please notify the physician on duty of any materials that will only be sent during the last half hour of the sample collection times.

Indications for tests outside regular working hours must be discussed with the microbiologist on duty, taking into account the following aspects

• Severity of the clinical picture
• therapeutic consequences of the diagnosis
• detection of sensitive pathogens and
• the possibility of rapid diagnostics

should be discussed.

Only if these options fail (several times): via the MHH switchboard or the ward porter, who in turn reaches the person on duty at home.
