Emily-Last hope MHH!

"Frankfurt/Hanover - She is just 13 weeks old and is already fighting the hardest battle of her young life: a malignant tumor is nesting in little Emily Jolie's body. The sweet baby has never been home with mom and dad, her two sisters (5, 2). She is in the University Hospital Frankfurt/Main, where she is receiving strong chemotherapy to stop the growth of the rare AT/RT tumor in her head. Father Ralph (39) and mother Simone Müller (34) are fighting for their little princess to be transferred to the Medical University. Such a tumor has already been successfully operated on here. The dad told BILD: "We hope that she will soon be fit enough for the transfer and the operation." The Clinical Departments are in close contact."

Clinical Department of Neurosurgery presents itself at World Brain Tumor Day at the MHH

Enclosed you will find a report from the Lower Saxony regional group of the Acoustic Neurinoma Association(VAN e.V.).

"World Brain Tumor Day at the MHH

On June 8, 2019, we accepted an invitation from the neurosurgery department at Hannover Medical School and accompanied a series of lectures on the occasion of World Brain Tumor Day with a VAN e.V. information stand. In addition to us, the Deutsche Hirntumorhilfe e.V. and the self-help group Bundesverband NF Hannover e.V. were also represented with a stand.

Unfortunately, only a few visitors showed up, although the MHH had put together a very worthwhile series of lectures:

Prof. Dr. Dr. Weber from the Institute of Human Genetics gave a talk on the heritability of brain tumors and therapeutic approaches in their treatment. This presentation was particularly interesting for us, as she used the example of NF2 patients to illustrate her findings.

Presentations from the Clinical Department of Neurosurgery by Dr. Lalk on the surgical treatment of brain tumors, by Dr. Wiese on the current status of drug-based tumor therapy and by Dr. Hong on the treatment of glioblastomas with alternating current rounded off a very informative morning.

For Ralf Bontzol and myself, attending the event was also really worthwhile, as the small number of participants meant that we were able to have extremely interesting discussions with the speakers afterwards, which could form the basis for further successful collaboration.

Praise & recognition, letter from a relative

"Ladies and gentlemen,

I was admitted to ward 26 with my sister-in-law, who has severe multiple disabilities, for almost 14 days. The team was always friendly and our wishes were fulfilled immediately. We felt that we were in good hands on the ward. The whole team was always very concerned about my sister-in-law's well-being. They even made time for a bit of fun small talk.

Thank you very much
XYZ"

Praise & recognition, letter from a satisfied patient

"Dear Sir or Madam,

I am aware that I am in complaints management, but I just have to get it off my chest: I had the best medical and nursing care imaginable during my stay. I would never have thought such a thing possible (in a positive sense). The physicians took an incredible amount of time, were always available to answer questions and the Nursing team looked after me so devotedly that it was no longer normal :) I would be really pleased if Ward 26 received this positive re-registration. I felt so incredibly well looked after and cared for.

A good two weeks after the operation, I had to visit the MHH again, this time via the emergency department, to rule out any complications. The emergency room team and the neurosurgeon on duty as well as the neurosurgical outpatient clinic were also so incredibly friendly and helpful. It's a mystery to me how the staff are so positive despite the adverse conditions (time pressure, working hours and workload), but you can be sure that this contributes just as much to your recovery as the exceptional medical expertise.

No bouquet of flowers or chocolates can express my gratitude in words and I think it's important that not only what didn't go well is expressed, but that positive feedback also reaches those "affected"."
