Information on the ward
Welcome to our website
Our Nursing is based on the MHH mission statement and the nursing concept of Hannover Medical School.
Our Nursing team consists of specialist nurses for surgical and endoscopic care as well as surgical assistants (OTA), who are employed full-time and part-time. We see ourselves as part of a multi-professional team and work closely with other professional groups and specialist departments.
Participation in internal and external training courses is an integral part of our Human Resources. New colleagues are introduced to their new tasks in accordance with an induction guideline developed by our department, which guarantees our patients a high standard of safety and care.
We guarantee continuous 24-hour care in various forms of service in order to restore the well-being and health of our patients through interdisciplinary cooperation.
Our task and obligation is to take the patient into our caring care, as their health and well-being are our highest priority.
An important goal of our Nursing is to contribute to efficient surgical procedures. Among other things, this means ensuring that all materials, equipment and instruments are available at all times for planned and emergency, unscheduled operations. The patient is at the center of everything we do.
Our tasks are
- Checking instruments, implants and preparing the operating table individually for each patient to ensure a smooth surgical procedure
- Caring for patients, taking into account their physical and psychological situation during their surgical stay
- Checking and preparing the surgical unit for the upcoming procedure with the medical equipment, instruments and materials required for the operation
- Positioning the patient in collaboration with the anesthesia department and the surgeon in charge
- Carrying out the "Team Time Out" in an interdisciplinary team
- Instrumentation of a wide range of operations in line with the specific requirements and situation
- Supporting the surgical team before, during and after the surgical phase
- Organizing and coordinating work processes in the operating area in consultation with all professional groups involved
- Supply of examination materials in accordance with occupational safety regulations
- Maintenance of highly specialized medical equipment
- Instructing trainees and training new employees
- Personnel support for PHW OP nursing and the outpatient surgery center with nursing staff
