Information on the ward
Welcome to our website
The Clinical Department of Dermatology and Allergy is certified according to Din EN ISO 9001: 2015. In 2015, the Skin Tumor Center also received certification as a skin cancer center in accordance with the requirements of the German Cancer Society.
Our Nursing is based on the MHH mission statement and the nursing concept of Hannover Medical School. It is planned, carried out and evaluated in a patient-oriented manner, taking into account the psychosocial situation. We are responsible for a certain number of patients within the scope of nursing care.
Accommodation on ward 41 is in single, double and multi-bed rooms, which are generally allocated according to medical criteria. We are happy to accommodate individual requests. The rooms where surgical procedures take place are located at the back of the ward, which allows for an optimal procedure.
Our nursing team consists of full-time and part-time registered nurses (some with additional qualifications such as wound managers). Participation in internal and external training courses is an integral part of our Human Resources. New colleagues are introduced to their new tasks in accordance with an induction guideline developed by our ward, which guarantees our patients a high standard of safety and care. We also have a service employee who supports us in many non-nursing activities.
We ensure continuous care by working in a three-shift system in order to restore the well-being and health of our patients through interdisciplinary cooperation.
The focus of our nursing work is on the care and treatment of patients with skin tumors. In particular, monitoring and treatment before and after operations.
This includes wound care, the use of vacuum therapy in wound care, accompanying therapies and the coordination of planned diagnostics.
Holistic care is provided through nursing measures such as
- Treatment care and dressing changes
- Advice and support for patients and relatives
- Basic care and positioning measures
- Preparing and serving meals
- mobilization
- Perioperative Nursing
- Pre- and post-operative monitoring
- Psychosocial care
- Special pain therapy (in cooperation with the Clinical Department of Anesthesiology)
- Special wound treatment
The second focus is on the oncological Nursing of our patients, e.g. monitoring during chemotherapy.
Common clinical pictures on ward 41 are
- Basal cell carcinoma
- Dermatofibrosacorcinoma
- Malignant melanoma
- Merkel cell carcinoma
- Squamous cell carcinoma of the skin, lips and eyelids
- and others (e.g. acne inversa, rhinophyma)
In the care and nursing of patients with tumors, we are guided by our concept for oncological care at the MHH.

The inpatient admission day
You enter the MHH through the main entrance and go to the right into the central patient admission area to be admitted to ward 41. You will then go to ward 41.
If you need help, please contact the volunteer "green ladies and gentlemen" in the registration area, who will also accompany you to the ward if necessary.
As a rule, you will be operated on the day of admission if all the necessary preliminary examinations have been completed. Please note the notices in the rooms and the information you receive from the nursing staff and physicians.
We offer oncological nursing advice and information for patients and relatives - before, during and after treatment.
On the ward, you will receive information on psycho-oncological care, social services and pastoral care.
If necessary, we work closely with the MHH's discharge management team to ensure a smooth transfer to home care.
Our case manager will be happy to take care of certificates, transportation options and can also be contacted after your discharge on +49 511 532-2413.
On the day of discharge, you will usually receive your letter for the physician providing further treatment during the ward round. We can only guarantee that our patients will be operated on the day of admission if they are discharged quickly.
