Infusion workshop

Clinical Department of Paediatric Cardiology and Paediatric Intensive Care Medicine

Intensive workshop on infusion management

All our intensive care patients receive intravenously administered drugs and solutions. The aim of the workshop is to significantly increase the safety of infusion therapy for our patients - both adults and children.

In times of constant change and increasingly complex therapy strategies, choosing the right access route and the safe administration of these substances represents a major challenge for all specialist groups involved.

Almost half of the costs of a modern intensive care unit are incurred in the area of infusion therapy. It is known from many studies on risk management in intensive care medicine that around 50% of all treatment errors are made in this area of work. Such errors can have serious consequences for our patients.

Despite these obvious problems, only a few Clinical Departments have a standardized infusion or risk management system.

This workshop attempts to close this gap and highlight sensible measures in infusion management. The aim is to increase the safety of our patients. In theoretical and practical learning units, we will introduce you to the basics of infusion therapy as well as practical aspects of avoiding incompatibilities, correct handling of hardware and application routes. We will work with you to develop solution strategies for successful and safe infusion therapy.

We hope to have aroused your interest with this offer and would be pleased to welcome you to one of the intensive workshops "Infusion Management" in Hanover or alternatively at your Clinical Department.
