In addition to an efficient network, an important component of excellent pediatric intensive medical care is a good quality of medical care. We firmly believe that training at all levels is the key to success. That is why we offer a comprehensive program for the qualification of clinical staff.
Pediatric intensive care medicine is a comparatively young discipline that has only been established in the last twenty years and has developed rapidly during this time. As children suffer from life-threatening illnesses much less frequently than adults, only a few medical centers in Germany have a dedicated intensive care unit for children beyond the neonatal period. The number of qualified physicians working in this field is also comparatively small, especially when it comes to technically complex treatment methods such as organ replacement procedures, transplants and difficult surgical interventions.
In order to be able to provide children with competent intensive medical care, physicians and nurses need several years of professional experience after their training, as well as several years of specialist training with final examinations. Even for very experienced staff, there are always new and challenging situations that push them to their limits, both professionally and personally, even after this long period of training. Preparing our employees for these situations, sharing our experiences with employees from other clinics and learning from each other, supporting other clinics in training their staff and at the same time further developing pediatric intensive care medicine - all this is part of our philosophy.
The training courses offered by our PICU Academy
Being able to offer intensive care medicine at the highest level means continuous further education and training of our own staff at all levels. New or unknown clinical pictures as well as new therapies with unknown side effects present us with major challenges time and again. At the same time, it is important to constantly deal with new treatment methods and techniques, as well as to examine and critically monitor their use in everyday medical practice.
In order to be able to offer our patients the highest quality in all these areas, the qualification of all employees is a decisive factor. We have therefore combined our training and further education portfolio under the umbrella of the PICU Academy. PICU comes from the English-speaking world and stands for "Pediatric Intensive Care Unit". Partners of the intensive care network and interested colleagues are also welcome to attend our events.
