Research in the field of digital teaching

The aim of research and development in the field of eLearning at PLRI is to sustainably improve education and training in the healthcare sector using modern information and communication technologies. Innovative, web-based teaching, learning and examination methods are intended to support the transfer of medical and nursing knowledge and clinical skills. A particular challenge here is to enable the individual acquisition of skills through digital teaching and learning opportunities for very different target groups and in different areas of learning and life. Aspects of human-technology interaction are playing an increasingly important role.

Subject of research

The multidisciplinary team deals with the technological and media-didactic aspects of digital learning applications. The following topics are the focus of research interest:

  • Development of didactic concepts for the use of digital learning opportunities in concrete educational processes
  • Use of mobile devices to support individual learning
  • Semantic web technologies in the context of digital learning
  • Formal and organizational framework conditions for the use of digital media in teaching
  • Promoting the personal skills development of learners
  • Use of AI methods for user-centered learning opportunities

When developing new eLearning courses, the PLRI works closely with various human medicine and dentistry departments and clinics, the nursing department and the office of Academic Affairs at Hannover Medical School.
