Dr. rer. biol. hum. Andrea Bökel
Scientific advisor to the clinic management
Andrea Bökel obtained her state examination in physiotherapy in 2005 at the Annastift in Hanover and studied at the HAWK Hildesheim, where she completed her Bachelor's and Master's degree in physiotherapy. In 2021, Ms Bökel completed her doctorate at the Clinical Department for Rehabilitation Medicine.
After working as a physiotherapist at the Therapy and Rehabilitation Center in Laatzen from 2006-2010, Ms. Bökel became a research assistant at the Rehabilitation Research Coordination Office. From 2011 to 2016, she worked as a physiotherapist on the internal medicine wards and was deputy overall therapy manager. At the same time, she accredited, coordinated and taught in the Ergo- and Physiotherapy Master's program at the MHH. Ms Bökel has been a research assistant since 2016 and has held the position of Scientific Advisor to the Clinic Management since 2018. She supports the clinic management in the planning, organization, coordination, analysis and publication of studies.
In the area of research, Ms Bökel works on various projects, including on the living and care situation of people with spinal cord injuries and on the testing, validation and implementation of an instrument to assess the rehabilitation needs of people in the Clinical Department for Rehabilitation Medicine, the outpatient clinic for rare diseases and patients with Long-COVID19.
In 2021, Ms. Bökel received the Zarnekow Award for her outstanding achievements in the field of rehabilitation science.
Since 2021, Ms. Bökel has been participating in the Ina Pichlmayr Mentoring Program and is preparing her habilitation thesis.

- International Classification of Service Organization in Rehabilitation (ICSO-R): Development of a minimum rehabilitation service reporting set for scientific studies
- Recording impairments of patients in the outpatient clinic for rare diseases (EBA)
- Context factors of the ICF in the socio-medical assessment in the context of reduced earning capacity pensions for musculoskeletal diseases (Kombi-EMR)
- Evaluation of the "Entry Premium" (ESP) pilot project. Promotion of motivation to take up employment subject to compulsory insurance through premium payments
- Pilot study: Manual medical method evaluation on the modulability of the leading symptom tinnitus A prospective, randomized study
- Development and evaluation of the Rehabilitation Goal Setting (ReGoS) screening tool
