Welcome to the water/gas technology section

The Water and Gas Technology Department is responsible for measures in the areas of gas, water, waste water, technical and medical compressed gases and vacuum. This includes the planning, initiation, implementation and monitoring of statutory and recurring inspections, including the tracking, initiation and monitoring of technical defect rectification resulting from the inspections. For necessary expert inspections, the recognized testing facilities of the state of Lower Saxony are used and supported. Furthermore, measures which in practice and the relevant standards and regulations are referred to as maintenance, consisting of servicing, inspection, repair and improvement, are supervised and carried out.

The main focus here is on testing, maintenance and repair. Testing and preventive maintenance and repair stabilize the operating times of the systems and minimize downtimes.

The water/gas technology department works very closely with the TGM control room, which ensures the operation (setting, switching and monitoring of the technical systems), as well as fault acceptance and troubleshooting, also involving the departments and on-call services.

Department of Water Technology

The Department inspects and maintains technical gas and water supply systems on a regular basis. The inspection activities include condition and functional testing in accordance with the specifications of the respective manufacturers and are also based on the experience of the employees from the management of these systems.

The maintenance services for sanitary technology, natural gas technology, fire extinguishing technology, demineralized water and water treatment technology, bedpan flushing technology, dosing device technology, soap and disinfectant dispenser technology and swimming pool technology are carried out in accordance with the AMEV and, in the case of medical products, in accordance with the manufacturer's specifications.

The original maintenance services include functional testing, replacing, adjusting, refilling, lubricating, cleaning, changing sealing materials, cleaning and rinsing technical system parts and components. Consumables are ordered and in some cases stored by the Department. Repairs are planned to maintain the level of maintenance required for safe operation and to achieve the product and system life cycle schedules in accordance with planning and manufacturer specifications.

Special systems with a high risk potential must meet strict legal obligations, which are inspected by experts from approved inspection bodies. The Department is involved in the inspections and is also responsible for rectifying technical system defects. Exceptions to this are structural inspection defects, which are dealt with by Devision VI in accordance with the SOP.

Ensuring drinking water hygiene is a major challenge for the Department and its expert staff throughout the year. In cooperation with the hospital hygiene department and external, accredited laboratories, each building is sampled once a year. The results are reported to the public health department.
