The staff council office is an honorary office. They get involved voluntarily and stand up for the interests of their colleagues.

Staff Council is electable: The Staff Council is made up of 25 elected colleagues from different professional groups. Their term of office is four years.

The Staff Council advises the Presidium and the Senate. It gives its opinion on development and business plans, the establishment of or participation in companies, the MHH's draft target agreements with the Ministry and the Senate's proposals for the nomination or appointment of members of the Presidential Board.

Some of them are released from their original official duties for this work. In addition to performing their statutory duties, the Staff Councils are of course also available to advise you on any questions you may have regarding your employment relationship. When can my manager order me to work overtime? Is my classification correct? When do I lose my vacation entitlement?

A central task of the Staff Council is to organize occupational health and safety.

This includes compliance with protective regulations for employees, in particular the Occupational Health and Safety Act, the Hazardous Substances Ordinance, the Display Screen Guidelines, the Maternity Protection Act and the Workplace Ordinance.

The design of workplaces, work equipment and the selection of personal protective equipment must be coordinated with the Staff Council. Changes to social facilities such as recreation and break rooms are also subject to co-determination by the Staff Council.

Increased workloads, health restrictions, requests for change or even conflicts in the working environment often lead to contact being made with a member of the Staff Council.

It is important for us to realize that individual problems also affect the organization. Referring to a poor financial situation and the cliché that there are no more easy jobs at MHH does not help anyone. Conclusive concepts, advisory skills and commitment are required here. This is only possible with a strong Staff Council and with employees who support it.
