Patient associations
From the waiting period to the operation and life with the new organ: stressful questions and situations can arise for patients and their relatives at all three stages.
Many transplant patients and their relatives find it helpful to share experiences with other patients and find support in a patient association.
Patient associations offer a wide range of services. These include, for example
- Advice and support for patients and relatives in all phases of transplantation
- Mediation of suitable discussion partners
- Patient seminars with physicians and other experts
- Information material on all aspects of transplantation
- Regular member meetings and joint activities
In addition, many associations actively support the (health) policy interests of transplant patients and carry out educational work on organ donation.
Membership of the associations is open to all waiting patients, organ transplant patients, relatives and interested parties.
