Volker von Wülfing Immobilien GmbH donates from the heart!

"We are not only able to donate real estate, we are also happy to donate, provided that the funding purpose makes sense and definitely helps," says Volker von Wülfing, founder and head of one of the highest-profile real estate agents with branches throughout northern Germany, adding: "Supporting those working in Nursing should be close to all of our hearts, which is why we are happy to donate to the MHH 150 Minutes campaign." Keep up the good work - and many, many thanks!

The BAUM Group is on board!

For over 30 years, entrepreneur Gregor Baum has been successfully active in all areas of the real estate industry, the hotel industry, agriculture and horse racing. His eponymous group of companies develops construction projects throughout Germany, but the connection to Hanover is omnipresent. "When you are as deeply rooted in a region as our company is, I see social commitment as a matter of course. That's why we've been involved in Hanover and the surrounding area for years, especially in the areas of sport and culture," says Baum. "We like how '150 Minutes' combines sport and exercise with social commitment to Nursing. And because our employees also get something out of it, we are particularly happy to take part."

Discover something new

For many people, sport is just a strenuous and agonizing activity. But sport can be so much more than that. For example, I discovered rugby four years ago. For me, it's the perfect sport because you play as a team: whether you lose or win, you do it together. It relaxes me, I can come down and just concentrate on the game and my goals - and all this with my friends by my side. Because you gradually grow into a family when you play rugby, which is why rugby is the perfect sport for me. That doesn't mean it's for everyone. But I believe that there is a sport for everyone that suits them. You just have to try something out and see what you enjoy.

hannoverimpuls is on board!

Since 2003, hannoverimpuls has been ensuring that Hanover's business landscape remains diverse and that innovative ideas fall on the most fertile ground possible. "We see ourselves as a driving force for Hannover's corporate landscape," says Doris Petersen, Managing Director of the joint business development agency of the City and Region of Hannover. "Because we ourselves experience every day how a small idea can turn into something big and new, we are also happy to support initiators in other areas. And if, as with '150 minutes', it concerns such an important area as Nursing, we are twice as happy to be involved."

Hula hoop in the office

At first, hula hooping sounds like something you can only do as a small child. But it is absolutely not! You can swing your hips at any age. Hula hooping is a great way to get some exercise into your office routine, as it prevents back pain, among other things. Not only does the hoop take up super little space, the action is also a laugh for you and your colleagues. It makes you super fit, loosens up the whole body (especially the hips and back) and it's fun. Simply take a break from exercise every 90 minutes, grab a hula hoop and get started. You should set aside 5-10 minutes a day for this. You can also do it several times a day. Hula hooping has a MET value of 4.5 - that's higher than jogging, but you sweat a lot less. So grab the hoop and hoop!

VHV is at it again!

VHV was one of the pioneers of last year's "150 minutes" campaign, with almost 110 employees taking part by jogging, climbing stairs or playing tennis. It is a matter of honor that they are taking part again this year. The Hanover-based company is deeply rooted in this city and has been taking on another piece of responsibility in the region since 2014 with the VHV Foundation. In this spirit, the foundation is now also supporting the work of the nursing teams at the MHH as part of our 150-minute activity week. Thank you very much!

The Unternehmerverbände Niedersachsen e.V. are on board!

The umbrella organization of employers' and trade associations in Lower Saxony represents the interests of around 150,000 companies between Cuxhaven and Göttingen. "For us, social commitment is a natural part of our work," says Managing Director Dr. Volker Müller. "In the Nursing Dialogue Group initiated by the UVN, we regularly discuss current challenges in Nursing with our nursing associations, politicians and cost bearers. We are therefore happy to take part in the Active Week for Nursing and are committed to this important topic that affects us all. It's great that some of our member companies are already on board. We hope that there will perhaps be a few more." We can only share this hope!

Hans G. Bock is at it again!

Interior designer Hans G. Bock is an integral part not only of Hanover's interior design industry, but also of our '150 minutes - active for Nursing' week: the long-established company is once again involved in the campaign this year. "Even though the situation in hospitals is no longer quite so tense at the moment, we have probably all realized by now that new ideas are needed in Nursing," says Valentin Schmidt, Managing Partner at Hans G. Bock. "We are therefore delighted to be able to make a small contribution to these new ideas by taking part in the campaign week."

The "150 minute" wall of rungs is here!

The donations from last year's edition of "150 Minuten - Aktiv für die Nursing" were used to purchase, among other things, a wall bar on which Nursing staff working in the operating theater can simply stretch, stretch and hang out after standing for a long time. In a public institution such as Hannover Medical School, the installation of such an uncomplicated piece of sports equipment takes a little longer than in the fitness room at home, but the wall bars have been ready for use for a few weeks now and are already being put to good use. Many thanks to everyone who made this possible. And if you would like to know what else was achieved with last year's donations, you can find more news in our archive.

The NBank is at it again!

The Investitions- und Förderbank Niedersachsen, the NBank, is also taking part as it did last year and is once again taking part in the campaign week. "We could all do with a bit of exercise and balance," says Dr. Ulf Meier, member of the Board of Managing Directors. "Our teams do a lot to promote Lower Saxony in the best possible way. As an employer, it is therefore important to us to provide opportunities to promote the health of our colleagues." You've come to the right place during the campaign week!

Dirk Rossmann GmbH donates 5,000 euros

The premiere of the "150 minutes" campaign was supported by Rossmann GmbH, whose founder Dirk Roßmann has been closely associated with the Förderstiftung MHH plus for many years, with a generous donation of 5,000 euros. But even after Dirk Rossmann retired from active business, the Burgwedel-based drugstore chain is still committed to the needs of the MHH: in 2022, it will once again support the campaign week in favor of Nursing with a donation of 5,000 euros. We are very pleased about this great amount - thank you very much!

Tina Voß GmbH is at it again!

"Of course we'll be there," was the spontaneous reaction of Tina Voß, Managing Director of the personnel service provider of the same name, when we asked whether she and her company would be supporting the 150 Minutes Active Week - Active for Nursing again this year. "Exercise is always great and for a good cause anyway!" Anyone who knows Tina Voß and her team knows that they are always open to joint campaigns. We are therefore looking forward to seeing what they make of 150 minutes this year and are delighted that they are taking part!

PSD Bank Hannover is on board!

PSD Bank impressed us in the last 150-minute round-up with a collegial bike tour around the Steinhuder Meer and a particularly sporty member of the Executive Board. The financial institution with the green logo has been a loyal supporter of the MHH Children's Hospital for many years and is also committed to important projects in research, teaching and patient care. We are all the more delighted that she is back on board!

Heinz von Heiden GmbH is at it again!

The employees of Heinz von Heiden GmbH were right at the forefront last year with joint yoga classes, bike tours and long walks with dogs and children. We are delighted that they are also taking part this year and were the very first to sign up. The new edition of "150 minutes - Active for Nursing" has begun!

How to compare individual activities

Exercise is ultimately a question of type, because here too, tastes differ. Some people want to burn off energy and enjoy the pleasant exhaustion after sport. Others are more interested in gardening and yoga. The best thing is that both ways lead to the same goal, as the so-called metabolic equivalent (MET) can be used to compare different physical activities. Moderate exercise corresponds to a value between 3 and 6 MET. You can look up the values for many types of sport and also some everyday activities in our MET table. And if your sport is not included: no problem! Just send us an e-mail and we will find the appropriate MET value for you.

WHO recommends 150 minutes of exercise per week

Prof. Dr. med. Uwe Tegtbur, Director of the Institute of Sports Medicine at the MHH (Copyright: Institute of Sports Medicine)

Studies show: Around a quarter of adults worldwide do not get enough exercise. In Germany, the figure is even around half. In 2018, the World Health Organization (WHO) therefore formulated the minimum amount of time we should spend being active each week in order to lay the foundations for a healthy life: 150 minutes. Prof. Dr. med. Uwe Tegtbur, Head of the Institute of Sports Medicine at the MHH, explains how important exercise is for the body and also the soul: "Regular sport and also smaller units of exercise that we incorporate into our everyday lives are simply good for us humans. Exercise prevents heart disease, cancer and diabetes. But it is just as important for our mental health and can alleviate depression and anxiety disorders, for example, or help prevent them from developing in the first place." Incidentally, the recommendation of 150 minutes applies not only to healthy adults, but also to people with chronic illnesses or other limitations. "Of course, you have to adjust the intensity individually, but moderate physical exercise always has a positive effect on quality of life and the course of the illness. We see that here at the MHH every day," adds Tegtbur. In short: every minute towards 150 is progress!
