Cancer information series: "Cancer and sexuality"

If a person is diagnosed with cancer, the time of diagnosis, treatment and aftercare is often very stressful for those affected and their relatives. Support and information can help to deal better with worries, fears and problems during this time. The "Info Series Cancer" is intended to help answer questions on selected topics from the everyday lives of people with cancer and their families.

The cancer information series is aimed at patients, relatives and anyone else who is interested. We look forward to hearing from you!

  • Lets talk about sex - challenges and restrictions in sexuality due to cancer. Our psycho-oncologist will discuss possible communication difficulties in the partnership and how to deal with them. She also reports on how to successfully communicate on this topic with the treatment team.
    Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Tanja Zimmermann, Professor of Psychosomatics and Psychotherapy with a focus on transplant medicine and oncology, Clinical Department of Psychosomatics and Psychotherapy, MHH.
  • Sexuality, acceptance and resilience in connection with gynecological cancer therapies: In this lecture, the focus is on gynaecological cancer and its possible consequences such as wound healing disorders, removal of the breast and vulva and hormonal changes.

  • Erectile dysfunction due to cancer: Cancer can lead to erectile dysfunction. However, there are treatment options that we would like to present in this lecture (e.g. penile prosthesis). We will also explain the role of testosterone in prostate cancer.
