Cancer information series: "Everyday stress caused by cancer"

Wednesday, December 03, 2025, 17:00 to 18:30, online and on site

If a person is diagnosed with cancer, the period of diagnosis, treatment and aftercare is often very stressful for those affected and their relatives. Support and information can help them to cope better with worries, fears and problems during this time. The "Info Series Cancer" is intended to help answer questions on selected topics from the everyday lives of people with cancer and their families.

The cancer information series is aimed at patients, relatives and anyone else who is interested. We look forward to hearing from you!

Program

Date: Wednesday, December 03, 2025
Time: 17:00 to 18:30
Location: Online and on site in the conference room at the MHH Lounge (main entrance; opposite Information, 18 seats)

  • Between finances, bureaucracy and practical support: cancer patients face multiple burdens. The financial situation is often strained, while bureaucratic requirements - such as applications, deadlines or forms - cause additional stress. At the same time, there is often a lack of practical support in the household or with everyday tasks, which is particularly challenging for older people, single parents or family members providing nursing care.
Dorothee Weißflog, Head of Department, Social Services, MHH
  • Coping with everyday life in hematological and neuro-oncological diseases: Various patient stories vividly illustrate how hematological or neuro-oncological diseases shape everyday life, the burdens they cause and the coping strategies patients can develop.
Susanne Blöß, Oncological Care Counseling, MHH
Lea Kauffmann, Ward 26, Clinical Department of Neurosurgery, MHH
  • Psychosocial challenges of cancer - finding and accepting support: The importance of psycho-oncological services for patients and their relatives, such as partners and children, who are often also exposed to considerable emotional stress due to the disease and need targeted support, will be discussed.
Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Tanja Zimmermann, Chair of Psychosomatics and Psychotherapy with a focus on Transplant Medicine and Oncology, Clinical Department of Psychosomatics and Psychotherapy, MHH.
