Cancer is a drastic diagnosis that can fundamentally change your life. Things that previously seemed self-evident suddenly become insurmountable challenges. MHH's social services provide important support to ensure that no one is left in financial hardship if they are struck by the fateful blow of cancer. The hardship fund for cancer patients was launched in June 2018 on the initiative of the Oncology Center in collaboration with the MHH plus support foundation. The hardship fund opens up opportunities for the social services to provide people with concrete help that goes beyond organizational matters and specialist advice.

Support is provided in very different situations. For example, clothing for inpatient rehabilitation, travel expenses for relatives living abroad or the installation of a home emergency call system following an inpatient stay in hospital.

The experience of the social service shows that those affected are very grateful for this care and attention - even though this type of help and support is not always easy for many of those affected to accept.
