With the forensic child protection outpatient clinic, forensic medicine at Hannover Medical School and its branch office in Oldenburg offers central points of contact with permanent competent contact persons on the premises of the Institutes in order to provide free advice and support to physicians in private practice, clinicians and those working in the public health service in the event of a possible diagnosis of child abuse and maltreatment and to enable rapid evidence-preserving documentation, assessment and interpretation of injuries and forensic evidence that can be used in court. The examination is carried out in a calm, child-friendly atmosphere by qualified physicians and, if necessary, with the support and guidance of a social worker B.A. & experienced child protection specialist. The results of the examination and any recommendations for further measures are communicated to the physician in a short written report.
