Student teaching in the simulation center
Internship Anesthesia
The HAINS simulation course is a curricular component of student training in anesthesiology and is a highlight of the entire course for many students.
Initially funded by the simulation project of the German Society for Anesthesiology and Intensive Care Medicine (DGAI), the current simulator generation (SimMan 3G, Laerdal) was financed by student fees, among other things. Since the beginning of 2016, we have also been able to offer video debriefing of the individual incident scenarios in student teaching again. The Study Commission has provided us with study quality funds to bring our video system up to the current state of the art.

Internship Emergency Medicine
The Emergency Medicine internship (including airway management, electrotherapy of cardiac arrhythmias and advanced cardiac life support) in the fourth year of study also takes place in the simulatorium.

Tutor FAQ
At HAINS, we are always looking for motivated tutors for our emergency internship and anesthesia internship. If you had fun in your own internship and are interested in joining our team, please contact us at the end of your internship. The only binding requirement is that you pass both internships!
While we cannot promise monetary riches at the standard MHH hourly wage for students of 9.50 euros per hour (from 01.04.2016), we can tell you that the experience gained on both courses is very varied and not only useful for prospective anaesthetists.
Even if there are administrative hurdles to overcome for a second job at the MHH, it is - supposedly - still possible.
However, we ask for your understanding that clarification in individual cases would have to come from you and cannot be provided by our HR Department in terms of organization. However, if you meet all the relevant requirements and have no objections to a second job with us, you are of course just as welcome.
First of all, we would be delighted if you would be interested, committed and happy to participate.
We are often asked whether, for example, previous experience in the emergency services is mandatory. Although this could of course be an advantage, the only prerequisite for working with us is successfully passing the emergency and anesthesia module. As part of this, you should of course, in your own interest, familiarize yourself with the content of the emergency internship and feel confident with the relevant algorithms. On the other hand, you will always have a physician at your side who is primarily responsible for imparting the specialist knowledge.
In general, of course, your studies come first!
Nevertheless, there are a few points that everyone should bear in mind.
No one will ask you to miss appointments in order to fulfill your duties as a tutor. On the other hand, it is desirable for a group of students to be supervised by the same tutor throughout the week (at least on Tuesdays and Thursdays), especially in the emergency internship. The reason for this is that it is easier to ensure that the material is taught in a stringent manner and that the individual needs of the group can be better addressed. In certain tertials, however, this will only be possible for you if you are prepared to take a missed appointment or, if necessary, swap appointments with fellow students.
Here too - as under 4 - your studies naturally take priority. Nevertheless, the training is somewhat more extensive, especially for the simulator, and of course - as always - you can only gain the necessary confidence through regular use, which would not necessarily be helped by, for example, just one service every six months.
But here, too, you always have experienced tutors and/or docs at your side.
Of course, it would be desirable if you could initially try to find a replacement on your own initiative for any absences. If you are unable to find a replacement at short notice or if your search is unsuccessful, you can of course contact us at any time.
