Welcome to the pages of our simulation center

Welcome to the website of our simulation center, the Simulatorium.

We organize all practical courses from the teaching modules "Emergency Medicine" and "Anaesthesiology" in our center and train 320 students every year. Our structured and certified American Heart Association courses for our own employees and for external partners are offered here. As part of our daily work in high-risk areas, we regularly train around 100 employees in emergency care measures for children and adults. All six of our themed courses from our HAINS Safety course portfolio also take place in the simulator. These courses are part of the training and further education of our own employees, but we also offer all our course formats to external interested parties.

If you are interested in our work, you will find all relevant information on course content and booking options on the following pages.

Please feel free to spokesperson us if you have any further questions.

Students' elective course "Difficult Decisions" again a complete success

Traditionally, "HAINS Week" took place at the end of September. Under the motto "Difficult Decisions", Dr. Vanessa Rigterink and Dr. Christoph Noll from the Clinical Department of Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care Medicine welcomed 14 highly motivated 5th-year students to their "best week of study" (quote from the participants). During the varied week, the participants had to present papers on given topics, were allowed to observe an anaesthetic induction in the operating room and were able to apply the skills they had learned in various simulation scenarios. The week was rounded off with visits to the MHH's pastoral care department and the anatomy department, where the participants were able to practice placing chest drains and performing coniotomies on body donors. Another special topic was airway management, which was practiced on Tuesday using airway phantoms with a normal airway. The highlight was the Friday exercise on phantoms with various airway pathologies. The elective course was once again a complete success and was very well evaluated by the participants. We are already looking forward to next year's elective week (already fully booked). Many thanks to all the hard-working helpers who made this week such a great success!

New compulsory elective course for students - Obstetric and anesthesiological emergencies in an interdisciplinary team

The pilot course of our new elective course for students took place in the week from September 16 to 20. Under the direction of PD Cordula Schippert (Gynecology) and Lion Sieg (Anesthesiology), students from the 3rd year of study completed practical work shadowing in the OR or delivery room and trained in simulation scenarios and at skill wards. Learning units were also offered by colleagues from neonatology and the midwifery team in the delivery room. The course took place in the anesthesiology simulation center and in the MHH SkillsLab. The aim was to train emergency cases in obstetrics from the perspective of an interdisciplinary team.

Many thanks to all those who actively supported us during the elective week.

We were delighted with the consistently positive feedback. And we are looking forward to the follow-up course, which is already fully booked.

AHA International Training Center

On May 14, Glenn Vanden Houten, Regional Director of the American Heart Association for Europe and Africa, visited the Simulation Center of the Clinical Department of Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care Medicine at MHH.
The aim of the visit was to tour the department's AHA training center. Mr. Vanden Houten was very satisfied with the structural conditions of the center and the way the courses are conducted.
He also reported on the increasing number of training centers (ITC) in Europe. Together with Lion Sieg and Hendrik Eismann, future projects were discussed, in particular the creation of German-language teaching materials and quality assurance measures.

Many thanks for the visit.

Hope we'll see you soon again.
