Further training as a specialist for intensive care and anesthesia care

Aim
- The advanced specialist training serves to further professionalize the profession learned and to deepen knowledge in specialist areas. It is therefore aimed specifically at healthcare and nursing staff who work in interdisciplinary, surgical intensive care units or anesthesia departments.
- Participants should become familiar with the diverse tasks in intensive care and anaesthesia care and gain confidence in their practical work. In addition, they should reflect on behaviors and attitudes related to their professional practice and deal with them constructively and critically.
Course
- The in-service training has been offered since 1977 and takes place in cooperation with other Clinical Departments.
Theory
- 720 hours of instruction in the form of modules
Practical training
The practical training takes place in the following areas
- 616 hrs in an anesthesia department or several anesthesia departments with at least three surgical departments.
- 1463 hours in surgical and interdisciplinary intensive care units.
The practical training takes place as far as possible in your own hospital.

Aim
- The advanced specialist training serves to further professionalize the profession learned and to deepen knowledge in specialist areas. It is therefore aimed specifically at healthcare and pediatric nurses and healthcare and nursing staff who work in interdisciplinary pediatric intensive care units, neonatal intensive care units or anesthesia departments.
- Participants should become familiar with the diverse tasks in intensive care and anaesthesia care and gain confidence in their practical work. In addition, they should reflect on behaviors and attitudes related to their professional practice and deal with them constructively and critically.
Course
The in-service training has been offered since 1980 and takes place in cooperation with other Clinical Departments.
Theory
720 hours of instruction in the form of modules
Practical training
The practical training takes place in the following areas
- 616 hrs in an anesthesia department or several anesthesia departments with at least three surgical departments in which children are also regularly cared for.
- 1232 hours in neonatal and interdisciplinary pediatric intensive care units
- 231 hours with a focus on specialist nursing participation in diagnostic and therapeutic interventions in another functional area important for pediatric intensive care and anesthesia care or in another medical or surgical intensive care unit
The practical training takes place as far as possible in your own clinic.

Each module concludes with a proof of achievement.

Further training as a specialist in oncology Nursing - adults, adolescents and children

Aim
- The training is intended to enable healthcare and pediatric nurses as well as healthcare and nursing staff to provide comprehensive care and guidance to people with cancer of all ages in the various phases of their illness, taking into account their physical, social, mental and emotional needs, and to provide appropriate support for patients and their relatives in all phases of the disease process.
- In addition, participants should reflect on their behavior and attitudes and deal with them constructively.
Course
The in-service training has been offered since 1995 and takes place in cooperation with other Clinical Departments.
Theory
720 hours of instruction in the form of modules
Practice
Assignments in inpatient and outpatient departments where oncology and hematology patients are cared for.

Further training as a specialist for social psychiatric care

Aim
The aim of the training is to enable people to design support services for mentally ill people in various areas of care within the framework of co-responsible care, which enable them to live in their own chosen place of residence and are geared towards their personal abilities. It should also enable them to place the social dimension of mental illness at the center of their considerations and their nursing and therapeutic actions. Furthermore, it should make it possible to recognize and take into account gender- and age-specific, social and cultural differences of the persons to whom the professional activity relates. It should also make it possible to identify and take into account the special needs of people with disabilities to whom the professional activity relates.
Course
The theoretical training takes place at the MHH and comprises 720 hours of theoretical instruction.
- The practical training takes place at the participant's workplace.
- Over a period of nine months, they must lead a socio-therapeutic group with the aim of overcoming the group members' existing functional impairments, or carry out a project of comparable complexity with a focus on the socio-psychiatric field with the aim of enabling mentally ill people to participate in social life again

Further training in emergency care according to DKG recommendation

The in-service training is carried out in accordance with the DKG (German Hospital Association) recommendation for further specialist training in emergency care (valid from 04.07.2023) and is recognized by the DKG
Objective:
- The advanced specialist training serves the further professionalization in the learned profession and the deepening of knowledge in special areas. Nursing professionals as well as nurses and geriatric nurses who work in the emergency department.
- Participants should become familiar with the diverse tasks in the emergency department and gain confidence in their practical work. In addition, they should reflect on behaviors and attitudes related to their professional practice and deal with them constructively and critically.
Practical assignments:
The practical assignments are divided into three compulsory and at least one optional assignment.

- The "Palliative Care" training course is intended to enable healthcare and pediatric nurses as well as healthcare and nursing staff to care for and accompany seriously ill and dying people of all ages, taking into account their physical, social, mental and emotional needs.

Permission to use the professional title in accordance with the Geriatric Nursing Act Section 1 § 1 - Twelve months of professional experience in Nursing, accompanying and caring for people in a palliative situation
- Working hours of at least 50%

- Palliative Care Competence Network Nursing (PCKP)
Further training in practical guidance

Aim
- The training and examination regulations for nursing professions, the Nursing Chamber and the Lower Saxony State Education Authority require qualified practical guidance to ensure practical training and further education.
- The aim of the qualification is for participants to familiarize themselves with the diverse tasks of a practical instructor. They will be trained in vocational pedagogy in order to plan and structure practical guidance. Based on a broad repertoire of methods, they acquire the ability to provide action-oriented guidance. Consideration of individual learning needs is given high priority in both the practical and theoretical parts of the qualification.
Course
- The qualification is offered on a part-time basis.
- Building on cross-professional modules, professional modules follow, which deal with the current topics of the respective specialist area. In addition, the prospective practical instructors are enabled to transfer, design and reflect on the pedagogical content specifically for their own specialist area.
- The qualification measure includes observations at the school learning location and the practical learning location.

APN (Advanced practice nurse) trainee program

Aim
- Preparation for the specific requirements of an APN at the MHH
- Structured concept for role identification and implementation
- Prevent "being a stranger
- Creating transparency for all those involved
- Carrying out an analysis of the current situation as a basis for working as an APN
- Supporting the Nursing management in defining the role
Progression
The trainee program is divided into modules based on the modules of the degree program. Tasks for role implementation are to be completed in the modules. The trainee program comprises approx. 4 days per month over a period of two years.

Internationally recognized concepts are used for role development:
- Core tasks according to Hamric 2014 (Hamric 2014)
- Methods of project management (Gächter 2015)
- Methods of action research (Mccormack et al. 1999)
- Role implementation PEPPA framework (Bryant-Lukosius and Dicenso 2004)
Completion
Successful participation in the APN Trainee Program is certified.
Prerequisites for participation
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing (undergraduate degree), Clinical Nursing, Nursing Science or comparable degree
- Enrolment in a Master's degree program in APN/nursing science (possibly also in planning)
- Successfully completed training as a healthcare and nursing assistant; healthcare and pediatric nurse
- Several years of experience in direct clinical Nursing
- Interest in working in direct clinical Nursing
- Interest in scientific work and initial knowledge in the field of nursing research, empirical social research
- Successful application to the responsible nursing supervisor
Dates:
The trainee program begins on 1.10. of each year if there are enough applications.
